Kim Kardashian is at again! She wore this wonderful L’Wren Scott dress while hosting the Live with Kelly show in NYC. I absolutely love this dress. It’s conservatively sexy! You are sure to turn a few heads in this dress at the office. Red is such a powerful color. Keep the black in the closet for a change.
I absolutely love Essie’s nail polish. There are a variety of colors and the polish lasts for days, especially with a good top coat. Just in time for Spring, Essie brings us the Navigate Her collection.
From the Press Release:
“With this collection, Essie is paying tribute to the beautiful, ambitious woman of action. Not content to play it safe and hedge her bets during the wintry economic climate. In both fashion and finance, she’s ready, willing and able to strike out and try something fresh and new.
Never one to rest on her formidable charms alone, this self-made woman knows what she wants and exactly how to get it. She’s in the driver’s seat navigating her way through life with daring, wit and fashion aplomb.
“Fortune favors the bold,” says essie brand founder and global creative director Essie Weingarten. “I am so inspired by women who dream big, go with their instincts and always manage to put their best self forward.”
This supremely feminine collection creates the perfect spring wardrobe for every woman on a mission. With skin-flattering brights and power pastels to suit every occasion, she’s always at the top of her game with essie color. For those in the vanguard, blazing a trail of glory to new heights, there’s olé caliente. For a more gentle touch and soft-sell approach, a crewed interest is sure to post serious profits. Whatever your strategy, choose one of these six ingenious colors that means business.”
From left to right the colors are: Navigate Her, A Crewed Interest, To Buy or Not to Buy, Tour de Finance, Olé Caliente, Orange It’s Obvious!
I want to wear every single one of them just because of the meaning behind each and every drop of color. I can identify with this Essie Collection! Ladies, you shouldn’t be afraid to wear hot pink on the trading floor!
I’ll post pics as soon as I get my hands on these hues.
What do you guys think?
Every woman should have a black blazer in her closet. And, unless you are going on an interview, I think you should wear one that has more character. I get so bored with the boxy, big shoulder pad blazers. I have so many different black ones, but they are cut differently and more feminine. It’s important to have one basic one, but change it up a bit with the others. The one pictured above is by Vionnet.
I also am thinking about getting the Unconditional Black Blazer below. It’s a little pricey. But, I’m sure it will look FABulous on =). I would wear it to work with a non-black Sheath Dress underneath. Take conservative risks with your workwear!
Cap toe pumps were a big hit last fall on the runway and with celebrities. And the trend hasn’t died down! I’m all about adding variety to your wardrobe. The cap on the shoe adds a little character to what would be a basic pump. And, like I always say, who says you can’t be fashionable on Wall Street! I’ve listed a few that I thought you guys might like.
Kors by Michael Kors – Gorden Cap Toe Pump – $250.00
Mango – Cap Toe Pump – $49.99 (On Sale!!! – Pictured)
Every working woman should have a simple black sheath dress in their closet. It should be simple and classic. This is not a little black dress (LBD)! It should be right above or right below your knee. A kick pleat in the back allows you to walk effortlessly. You can wear it with a blazer or long sweater in the winter time or rock a sleeveless one in the summer. You can also get creative by adding simple jewelry, like pearls, to accessorize. Pair it with a pair of classic Christian Louboutin pumps to really make a statement!
The dress pictured above is the new Black Halo “Jackie O” Belted Sheath Dress. If you are looking to splurge, it’s definitely a great buy.
I absolutely love BCBGMaxazria pieces! I came a cross this dress while shopping the after Christmas sales and think it’s FABulous. It has enough color to add variety to your wardrobe and can be worn during the day at work paired with a conservative pump. You can transition this dress for an afterwork event by adding a pair of bright, sexy heals to bring out the colors.
This is a question that I read about all the time and I feel a lot of women ask when joining Corporate America. Let’s face it, if you are like me, I’m sure you’d like to be fashionable when going to work. But we should remember to remain fashionably conservative =)!
Unfortunately, there isn’t a clear cut answer to this question. It depends on the context: the length of the dress, the cut of the dress, and the woman wearing the dress. The same dress won’t fit the same way on every woman. I’ll never forget this. One day, I wore a cream, ruched, Ann Taylor dress to work with one of my colleagues. And, the dress looked completely different on her than on me. I am curvier than she is, and as a result, the dress looked ‘tighter’ on me. To downplay the fact that the dress looked tighter and accentuated my hips and derrière, I just wore a blazer.
So when deciding if the dress is work appropriate or not, ask yourself the following questions? Continue reading
